An after dinner affair with catered savory & sweet treats, wine & drinks, and live owls!

We are seeking sponsors for the event! If you would like to be a sponsor, at any level, please contact us.

This event is not only a fundraiser for our much needed and ever expanding project, but it is also a way for us all to enjoy an evening in the presence and magical spirit of owls... Last year's event sold out, so reserve your place now!

An after-dinner affair featuring delicious treats, both savory and sweet, and wines generously donated by Clay Station Wines, part of the Delicato Family Vineyards. We'll feature 2006 Clay Station Viognier (a refreshing alternative to Chardonnay), as well as their Petite Syrah and Old Vine Zinfendel. All food and drink will be served in and on biodegradable products. We’ll have owl stories, short educational talks, a silent auction featuring fine art and photography donated by local artists, the opportunity to purchase gifts for the holidays AND you’ll meet the stars of the show - live owls! Mingle with other owl enthusiasts, nibble, drink wine, have fun - and leave with a sense of wonder. Leslie Harlib, of the Marin Independent Journal called this an evening “rich in edu-tainment; slide shows, lectures and demonstrations that helped us all understand how valuable owls can be.” Read Leslie's story on last year's event (scroll down for the HOP story).

Hosted by Joe Mueller, Biology Professor Extraordinaire, College of Marin

Ask Joe! Your RSVP form includes a place to ask any burning questions you have about owl biology and behavior! Questions may be selected for inclusion by our speakers.

This year we are featuring Northern Spotted Owls, with a special talk by Renée Cormier of PRBO Conservation Science. Renée joined PRBO in 2002 working on several terrestrial and education/outreach projects throughout California. Recently she has been working on riparian landbird projects in the Central Valley, and on the Northern Spotted Owl project in Marin County. Originally from eastern Canada, Renée received a B.Sc. from Acadia University in Nova Scotia.

Our host, Joe Mueller, will give a talk on the behavioral ecology of owls, and HOP will present an update on our work.

Exciting News! We will have a book signing with Hans Peeters, author and illustrator of the soon to be published Field Guide to Owls of California and the West (California Natural History Guides). The book will be available for sale at the event.

You will also have the opportunity to meet WildCare's Northern Spotted Owl ambassador, Sequoia. This threatened Northern Spotted Owl, was found on the ground near Muir Woods, one of the last old-growth forests in this part of the country. WildCare treated Sequioa's wing injury to the point of recovery, but although she can fly a little, she cannot fly silently or maneuver well enough to hunt successfully for her food. Sequoia has not been a Wildlife Ambassador long, but she brings reality to the controversy about saving the old-growth forests she would have called home.
